We met Grégoire at the Demo09 Reception last night. As a company from Taiwan, it is interesting how we are actually developing a social network (software) while Grégoire’s company is launching a new breed of touch book computer (hardware) in the US. We shared the laugh how this should’ve been the opposite.

The Touch Book launched by Always Innovating is truely a state-of-the-art touchscreen tablet PC. The screen can be detached from the keyboard and it only weighs two pounds.  It is somewhere between an iPhone and a notebook.

Nice to see a big name at the Demo. Sheryl explained that Qualcomm is not only into high-end communication chipsets but also trying to develop next-generation display technology. Qualcomm’s MEMS branch has invented the mirasol display technology which uses less energy than traditional LCD/LED displays. The mirasol display also offers high reflectivity, which is particularly important for outdoor usage (traditional LCD does not do well under bright sun).
